Develop your drawing and illustration skills under the guidance of expert instructors and build a comprehensive body of work.
Located in the University of Melbourne's renowned arts precinct at Southbank, the Visual Art Studio: Drawing Foundations is an intensive, part-time, year-long course that provides an essential introduction to the practice of fine art.
Guided by a practising visual artist and professional educator, you will learn fundamental drawing skills and gain knowledge to enhance your own artwork at a level that suits your needs.
You will be encouraged to think about drawing as a foundation for other mediums, build your understanding of a personal visual language and experiment with a wide range of materials and ideas related to the world of drawing. As you gain confidence, you will be encouraged to work independently and build a strong body of work throughout the year.
The course culminates in an end-of-year exhibition, where you have the opportunity to publicly display the artwork you have created.
I'd always been a bit afraid of portraiture but really loved trying something new and finally being taught how to do it. It was also great to be able to use the facilities and new materials. Visual Art Studio participant
